ANTHONY JOSHUA WON’T BE AT RINGSIDE
TO WATCH FURY, WILDER BIG FIGHT
Britain’s Anthony Joshua
‘I would love to experience what women go through’
Anthony Joshua has revealed why he
will miss the huge fight between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder, which will
shape the next phase of his career.Unified heavyweight champion Joshua is
desperate to face American Wilder, who defends his WBC title against Fury in Los
Angeles on December 1.
If Wilder successfully overcomes
Fury, it could set up a potential blockbuster showdown between the rival belt
holders. However, if Fury wins and a rematch clause kicks in Joshua may well
have to look elsewhere for his next opponent.
Joshua will not be watching the
bout, however. He explained: ‘Unfortunately the fight’s on too early for me, so
I’ll be sleeping, but I enjoy watching the highlights.‘I need Wilder to win,
and that way it gives me more of an opportunity to fight him, because as a
champion, if he retains his belt. I think that’s the fight people have been
yearning for.’
Meanwhile, boxer Deontay Wilder has
admitted he would love to carry a child if scientists ever invent a procedure
that would allow that to happen.Bruiser Wilder has knocked out 39 of his
opponents during a glittering boxing career, but called women the ‘most
powerful thing on earth’ and that he would love to experience pregnancy and
child birth.
Wilder, 33, has seven children,
including daughter Naieya, 13, who suffers from spina bifada, and is a true
family man, focusing on them outside of boxing. He calls himself a ‘mother
goose’ and ahead of his huge fight with Tyson Fury on Saturday night in Los
Angeles, when Wilder puts his WBC heavyweight title on the line, the American
is disappointed that the public do not see his softer side.
‘If they ever invent something that
will allow a man to carry a child, I want to sign up for it,’ Wilder told The
Telegraph.‘I really do. I would say to my girl: “Let’s have a baby, and I’ll
carry it”. I would love to experience what women go through to bring life into
this world.‘That’s why women are the most powerful thing on the earth. When
we’ve got people who bleed for seven days every month… come on, man!
‘But I really feel I’m the mother
goose. I kiss my kids six or seven times a day. They are all individuals. I
love them.’
He continued: ‘I wish people could see this side of me more often. My world is amazing. I don’t let certain things get to me and I let people assume about me.

‘But as long as I’m civilised and
can balance between being a fighter and a father, then I’m fine.’There has been
plenty of bad blood between Wilder and Fury in the build up to the fight, when
both boxers put their unbeaten career records on the line.
